Are there houses for rent near the RTA Red Line?
The Red Line runs a single corridor from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, through Downtown Cleveland's Tower City hub, out to Windermere Station in East Cleveland — so "near the Red Line" can mean several different parts of the city depending on which stretch of the route you want. We manage rental homes across Greater Cleveland; the most useful next step is telling us which end of the line (or which station) matters most for your commute, so we can point you to current listings within a reasonable walk or short drive.

The Red Line route, end to end
The Red Line is Greater Cleveland RTA's heavy-rail line, and it's the only rapid-transit line in the United States that connects a downtown directly to its city's main airport — a documented distinction for the system. Trains run roughly every 15 minutes throughout the day.
- Cleveland Hopkins International Airport: the line's southwest terminus, on the city's far west side
- Ohio City: near-west side station, in the neighborhood home to the West Side Market
- Tower City (Downtown): the system's central rail hub, where the Red Line meets the Blue, Green, and Waterfront light-rail lines
- University Circle: east-side stop serving the University Circle institutions, including Case Western Reserve University and the area's museums and hospitals
- Windermere (East Cleveland): the line's northeast terminus
How much does it cost to rent a house near the Red Line?
Rent across our current Cleveland-area portfolio generally runs from about $700 to $1,800 a month, with a typical home around $1,000 — a range that holds up whether you're closer to the Ohio City end of the line or the University Circle end, since transit access isn't the main driver of price in our listings.
For broader market context, Zumper's report dated July 4, 2026 put Cleveland's overall median asking rent at $1,250 (up 4.2% year-over-year), while RentCafe's report dated July 2, 2026 found professionally managed apartments averaging $1,564. Both are citywide figures rather than Red Line-specific, since neither source breaks out rent by transit corridor.
| Home size | Typical monthly rent (our portfolio) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 2-bedroom house or duplex | $750 – $1,100 | Most common size across our listings |
| 3-bedroom house | $1,000 – $1,400 | Fits roommates or a small household |
| 4-bedroom house | $1,200 – $1,800 | Larger households, less common |
A car-optional commute beyond just the Red Line
Tower City isn't just the Red Line's midpoint — it's where the Blue Line and Green Line (both light rail to Shaker Heights) and the Waterfront Line (to the Flats and North Coast lakefront) all converge, so a home near any of those connecting lines still puts you within reach of the Red Line corridor with one transfer. The HealthLine, RTA's bus rapid transit route along Euclid Avenue, runs a separate but connected corridor between Public Square and University Circle, giving another car-optional option if your daily trip runs along that stretch instead.
If a fully car-optional commute matters, ask us specifically about proximity to a rail station or the HealthLine route rather than just "near the Red Line" — a five-minute walk to a station makes a bigger practical difference than being generally on the same side of the city.
Section 8 vouchers near the Red Line
Every home we manage accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and is kept HUD-inspection-ready, regardless of how close it sits to the Red Line. If you're applying for a voucher for the first time, our Cleveland Section 8 guide explains how CMHA's local application and inspection process works.
