5 Bedroom Houses for Rent in Cleveland, OH

Five-bedroom houses are the least common rental size in Cleveland, but they do come up. In our own Cleveland-area portfolio they typically rent from about $1,250 to $1,500 a month, and — like every home we manage — they accept Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers and are HUD-inspection-ready.

Are 5-bedroom houses for rent in Cleveland hard to find?

They are the rarest home size in our Cleveland-area portfolio — only a small number of our 90+ managed rental homes have five bedrooms, and typically just one or two are available or coming soon at any given time. If a 5-bedroom house is what you're after, the fastest path is to book a showing and tell our team your bedroom count, budget, and preferred area so we can flag a match as soon as one opens up.

The 5-bedroom houses in our portfolio tend to be older, larger-footprint homes: two-and-a-half or three-story single-family structures, sometimes with a finished attic counted as an extra bedroom, a full basement, and a fenced or partially fenced yard. Because inventory at this size is thin, it's worth being flexible on neighborhood if the bedroom count is your top priority.

What does a 5-bedroom house rent for in Cleveland?

Based on our own Cleveland-area portfolio (snapshot, July 2026), 5-bedroom homes have run from about $1,250 to $1,500 a month, averaging roughly $1,375. That sits above the typical range for 3- and 4-bedroom homes in the same portfolio, reflecting the added bedroom count and square footage.

For broader market context, Zumper's July 2026 report puts Cleveland's overall median asking rent at $1,250/mo (3-bedroom average $1,350), while RentCafe's July 2026 report shows a metro-wide 3-bedroom average of $2,716 for professionally managed apartment complexes — a category that skews toward newer, amenity-heavy buildings rather than standalone rental houses. Standalone 5-bedroom houses, like the ones in our portfolio, generally track closer to the lower end of that range.

4-bedroom house$1,200 – $1,800Average around $1,510

Where are 5-bedroom rental homes located?

Our overall Cleveland portfolio is concentrated on the east and southeast side — Slavic Village (ZIP 44105), Collinwood (44110), Glenville (44108), Fairfax and Central (44104), Hough (44103), and Buckeye-Shaker (44120) — with a smaller number of homes on the west side in Cudell/Detroit-Shoreway (44102), Old Brooklyn (44109), and Ohio City/Tremont (44113). A 5-bedroom home can turn up in any of these ZIPs depending on what's currently on the market.

Most of these neighborhoods are served by RTA bus routes, with the Blue/Green light-rail line reaching Buckeye-Shaker toward Shaker Square and the HealthLine bus-rapid-transit route running along Euclid Avenue between downtown and University Circle, close to the Hough and Glenville area. If a 5-bedroom home isn't currently available, our 4-bedroom listings or the full houses for rent in Cleveland pillar page are good next stops.

Section 8 vouchers for large households

Every home in our portfolio — including our largest 5-bedroom houses — accepts Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8) and is HUD-inspection-ready. The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) administers the voucher program locally and publishes a payment standard for each bedroom size on its Housing Choice Voucher page; larger bedroom counts generally carry a higher maximum subsidy.

CMHA's published HUD income limit for an 8-person household is $65,650 (effective April 2025). CMHA's preliminary voucher application accepts submissions year-round, and placement runs through a random selection process rather than a strict first-come, first-served list, so wait times vary. Our Section 8 housing in Cleveland guide covers the process in more detail, and you can apply online once you've toured a home you'd like to lease.

What to expect when touring and applying

Given how limited 5-bedroom inventory is, it pays to move quickly once a home is listed. Have your paperwork ready before a tour: a government-issued photo ID, proof of income, and rental history or references. We screen every applicant regardless of home size — there's no no-screening path — but we do work with a range of income sources, including Housing Choice Vouchers, and can talk through a co-signer or additional documentation if part of your income needs extra context.

Most of the 5-bedroom homes in our portfolio are older, larger-footprint houses with a full basement and a fenced or partially fenced yard; some include a finished attic counted toward the bedroom total. Specific features like a garage, central air, or updated systems vary by address, so always confirm exact amenities on the current listing rather than assuming a standard layout across every 5-bedroom home.

  • Have ready for touring: photo ID, proof of income, rental references
  • Common features: full basement, fenced or partial yard, sometimes a finished attic bedroom
  • Varies by listing: garage, central air, laundry hookups — confirm on the specific home
  • Screening: applies to every application; vouchers and co-signers are both workable paths
