RentCafe's (Yardi) report, dated July 2, 2026, put the broader average noticeably higher, at $1,564/mo across roughly 787 square feet. Neither figure is Westlake-specific, but together they bracket a reasonable range to expect before you start touring.

Getting around Westlake and commuting for work

Westlake is within Cuyahoga County and therefore inside the GCRTA service area, which operates suburban bus routes alongside its Red, Blue, Green, and Waterfront rail lines that all meet at Tower City downtown. Renters commuting from Westlake to downtown Cleveland or University Circle should check current GCRTA route coverage directly, since suburban bus service varies by street.

Westlake's location also matters for commute planning: it sits closer to west-side job centers and to Cleveland Hopkins-area traffic patterns than to University Circle, where the region's two largest employers, Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, are based. Renters weighing a Westlake address against an east-side commute should factor in the extra cross-town drive time, especially during peak highway congestion on I-90 or Route 2.

Electric service in Westlake generally comes from The Illuminating Company, since Cleveland Public Power is a municipal utility specific to the City of Cleveland itself. Natural gas in most of the Cleveland area now runs through Enbridge Gas Ohio, which completed its purchase of the former Dominion East Ohio system in March 2024, though a handful of suburbs still use Columbia Gas of Ohio — worth confirming for a specific address. Cleveland Water supplies many surrounding suburbs in addition to the city itself, and sewer/stormwater treatment across the metro generally runs through the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District.
